Police appeal for witnesses to racially motivated attack in Batley, West Yorkshire.

West Yorkshire police are appealing for witnesses to a racially motivated assault on  A 49 year old local man on Upper Road, Batley between 9.10pm and 9.15pm on Saturday February 2.


The victim was approached by a group of 6 or 7 Asian men who assaulted him, causing head injuries, before fleeing. They were described as of Asian ethnicity and their 20s. One was distinctly smaller than the rest and all were wearing hoods, hats and scarves covering the lower portion of their faces.

Police are treating this offence as racially motivated and anyone with information is asked to call PC Chris Merrick at the Batley Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101, or through CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
